Fabrication and Characterization of Coatings for Biomedical Applications

Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Over the past decades, the modification of metallic surfaces with biocompatible coatings represents one of the viable solutions to improve the interaction between human body and implanted devices such as orthopaedic prostheses, dental implants and cardiovascular stents. This special issue will collect original manuscripts and critical reviews and it is intended as a crossway focused on the development of innovative coatings for biomedical applications. Research articles from the innovative deposition technique to the application of advanced biomaterials will be warmly welcome.
This Special Issue encourage all researchers around the world to publish original works concerning but not limited to:
· Advanced and innovative methods of deposition of different kind of biomaterials (ceramics, polymers and composites etc)
· Comprehensive study of mechanism of coating deposition and kinetics of chemical reactions
· Physical-chemical characterizations such as SEM-EDS, XRD, RAMAN and FT-IR spectroscopy, XPS, AFM in order to scrutinize peculiar features of coatings
· Evaluation of corrosion protection performances in comparison with uncoated substrates
· Coatings biocompatibility estimation through direct and indirect biological tests
Study of advanced coating for drug delivery to improve antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
