Traditional medicine in neurodegenerative diseases

Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other related disorders, pose significant global health challenges due to their increasing prevalence and the limited efficacy of current therapeutic options. One of the primary obstacles in developing effective treatments is the protective nature of the blood-brain barrier, which restricts drug penetration into the central nervous system. However, certain plant-derived metabolites have shown potential to cross this barrier, offering new prospects for neuroprotection and disease modification.
Medicinal plants exert their effects on the nervous system through diverse signaling pathways, including interactions with receptors, inflammatory mediators, and oxidative balance regulators.
This Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research that advances our understanding of medicinal plants in neurodegeneration, neurogenesis, and therapeutic development.
We welcome a diversity of articles, such as conceptual and empirical articles, reviews, critical comments, and meta-analyses, for submission to this Special Issue. We will accept manuscripts from different disciplines, addressing topics related to the scope.
